Rwenzori is not only the highest mountain in Uganda, but also one the highest mountains in the world a reason why various tourists want to go to this mountain and see how high this mountain is. In 2006 the Ugandan community celebrated a 100 years since the first foreigner reached on top of Mt. Rwenzori who was an Italian. The conditions on the mountain are a challenge to even an experienced hiker. Mt Rwenzori national park has over 70 mammals and 217 bird species and a mesmerizing world’s rare vegetation. Whenever one goes to this national park is sure of some participating in certain activities such as;

Hiking to the top of the mountain

Follow the trails up to Lake Mahooma and Buraro chimp forest through the communities of Kichamba to the Karangura ridge and to Bundibugyo area through Bwamba pass. The communities of Ruboni and Turaco View also offer guided forest walks of various lengths just outside the park

 

Nature walks

 

This national park is home to various plant species and a variety of birds. So when one is more interested in avians,this is definitely the ideal destination.

 

Village tours

Walk with Bakonzo villagers through their homesteads in the foothills of the Rwenzoris as they demonstrate their daily activities, from tending to their animals and crops, to preparing meals with the freshest ingredients. See cultural dances, traditional costumes and hear their fascinating folklore.

Mountaineering

Keen climbers can choose between two scenic routes to the top of the Rwenzoris – Africa’s third highest peak! The trails pass glacial lakes, gorgeous viewpoints, dramatic mountain passes and lush valleys

This national park is home to various birds both resident and migratory birds. Uganda is a hub for very many birds and the greatest numbers of these birds have their presence in this national park.
